धर्म

धर्म यानिकी जो धारण करने योग्य हो जो अपनाने योग्य हो ।
मनु के अनुसार धर्म के 10 लक्षण हैं:-

धृतिः क्षमा दमोऽस्तेयं शौचमिन्द्रियनिग्रहः।

धीर्विद्या सत्यमक्रोधो, दशकं धर्मलक्षणम् ॥

भावार्थ:-

धृति (धैर्य), क्षमा (दूसरों के द्वारा किये गये अपराध को माफ कर देना, क्षमाशील होना), दम (अपनी वासनाओं पर नियन्त्रण करना), अस्तेय (चोरी न करना), शौच (अन्तरंग और बाह्य शुचिता), इन्द्रिय निग्रहः (इन्द्रियों को वश मे रखना), धी (बुद्धिमत्ता का प्रयोग), विद्या (अधिक से अधिक ज्ञान की पिपासा), सत्य (मन वचन कर्म से सत्य का पालन) और अक्रोध (क्रोध न करना) ; ये दस मानव धर्म के लक्षण हैं।

महाभारत में भीष्म पितामह के द्वारा कहा गया यह श्लोक भी धर्म से सम्बन्धित है :-

श्रूयतां धर्म सर्वस्वं श्रुत्वा चैव अनुवर्त्यताम्।

आत्मनः प्रतिकूलानि, परेषां न समाचरेत् ॥

(धर्म का सर्वस्व क्या है, सुनो और सुनकर उस पर चलो ! अपने को जो अच्छा न लगे, वैसा आचरण दूसरे के साथ नही करना चाहिये।)

देखिए एक अन्य श्लोक धर्म के संबंध में क्या कहता है :-

अष्टादश पुराणेषु व्यासस्य वचन द्वयं।

 परोपकारः पुण्याय, पापाय परपीडनम्।।

अर्थात 18 पुराणों में व्यास जी के द्वारा केवल दो ही बातें कही गई हैं कि परोपकार करना पुण्य है और दूसरों को कष्ट देना पाप है ।

कुछ ऐसा ही रामायण(श्रीरामचरितमानस) में भी भगवान राम के द्वारा अपने पुरवासियों को शिक्षा दी जाती है :-

परहित सरिस धर्म नहि भाई । पर पीड़ा सम नहिं अधमाई ।।

अर्थात दूसरों पर उपकार के समान धर्म नहीं है और दूसरों को पीड़ा देने के समान कोई पाप नहीं है । 

एक अन्य प्रसंग में सत्य को धर्म बताया गया है:-

धर्म न दुसर सत्य समाना । आगम निगम पुरान बखाना ।।

यानि की सत्य के समान कोई दूसरा धर्म नहीं है ऐसा वेद पुराण भी बखान करते हैं ।

इस प्रकार किसी एक धारणा को धर्म कहना उचित नहीं होगा क्योंकि धर्म अपने परिस्थिति के अनुसार अलग हो सकता है ।

जैसे कि सैनिक का धर्म देश की सुरक्षा ,शिक्षक का धर्म शिक्षा देना , पुत्र का धर्म माता पिता की सेवा करना आदि ।

Religion vehicle that is fit to be adopted which is adaptable.


 According to Manu, there are 10 signs of religion: -

Dhriti (patience), forgiveness (forgiving offenses committed by others, being forgiving), dum (controlling one's lusts), astay (not stealing), defecation (inner and outer purity), sensory nigraha (senses)  To subdue), dhi (the use of intelligence), vidya (the maxim of knowledge), satya (observance of truth by mind and word of action) and akrodh (not to anger);  These are the ten characteristics of human religion.

In the Mahabharata, this verse said by Bhishma Pitamah is also related to religion: -

Listen to what religion is all about and listen to it!  Do not behave in a manner that is not good to oneself.

See what another verse says about religion: -

Only two things have been said by Vyas ji in 18 Puranas that philanthropy is a virtue and suffering others is a sin.

In some similar Ramayana (Shri Ramcharitmanas), Lord Ram teaches his ancestors: -

Others do not have the same religion as benevolence and there is no sin like tormenting others.

In another context, truth is told as religion: -

There is no other religion like truth, Veda Purana also states.

Thus, it would not be appropriate to call any one belief a religion because religion can be different according to its situation.

Such as the religion of the soldier, the safety of the country, the teacher's religion, education, the son's religion serve the parents, etc.
